STUDY VISA

When you want to go for a study in a European country.  It means that you have to be signed-in and accepted by a university in that country. This university will give you an Pro forma acceptation which means that you only can take part of the study if you are able to get a study visa.  For this visa you will need the following issues: passport with 4 photo's) sign in formulary from the university and a bank draft or statement of account that you have enough money for your own living and study payments  for the time of the study mostly at least 1 year). No tuberculoses .

You can also have a study visa when you have a referee or guarantor in the country who would sign a formula in which he/she declares that he/she is responsible for you and for all the cost during your stay. You are not allowed to be in the country during your study visa request and you only can ask for this visa when you're already for 3 months out of the country you wish to go.

Your situation

You want to study in the Netherlands for a period of longer than 3 months. You come from a country where you are required to have an MVV (Philippines).

For you, the "Study" and the MVV procedures are relevant. You will find a description of your procedures on this  page.

Study

You may pursue a course of study in the Netherlands if you satisfy the conditions.
As a student you are a temporary resident. This means that you must leave the Netherlands once you have completed your course.
On the following items you can check which conditions are applicable to you and which documents you will require.
Conditions

You satisfy the following conditions:

You are pursuing a course of study at a recognized educational establishment in the Netherlands;
You have sufficient means of support for the academic year (please refer to the “What are the standard amounts for students?”);
You sign a declaration of cognizance at the Aliens Department;
You sign an antecedents declaration at the Aliens Department.

Documents

You will require the following documents for the application:

Valid passport (copy);
4 color photos;
(Temporary) certificate of registration at educational establishment;
Proof of sufficient means of support.

Application Form MVV

Application form for authorization for temporary stay (MVV)

Anyone who intends to stay in the Netherlands for longer than three months must be in possession of an authorization for temporary stay (MVV). An application for an MVV must be made in writing. Only a referee may make an application from within the Netherlands. The referee is the person who will receive the alien in the Netherlands, and that is why the IND needs information from you too, as referee. Complete the MVV application form, sign it and send it to the IND together with the required documents. The IND will assess whether the alien might be eligible to stay in the Netherlands for longer than three months. It is the aim of the IND to make a decision within three months of receipt of your application.

Residence permit

The procedure in the Netherlands
After arrival in the Netherlands, the alien applies for a residence permit at the local Aliens Police. Here he will have to sign a statement about the past. Furthermore, the alien might be ordered to report to the local health service for a tuberculosis check. (This does not apply to citizens of the European Union, European Economic Area, Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, Suriname, United States, and Switzerland including Liechtenstein).

The decision
The Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) will make a decision. They will inform the alien of their decision by post. If your application is approved, the residence permit can be collected from the Aliens Police. The residence permit is valid for a period of one year after the date of arrival.

If the application is denied, the IND will inform the alien of their decision by post. The alien can object and eventually make an appeal later if he does not agree with this decision.
